How I can help
Counselling for low mood and depression in Pontefract
In the words of someone weighed down
Everything takes more than it used to. Getting up, getting dressed, getting through the day. I am not always sad exactly, more flat, grey, switched off from things I used to care about.
I go through the motions and hope no one notices. I tell people I'm tired, which is true, but it is more than tired. The things that used to lift me do not reach me any more. Some days I cannot see the point of it all.
I keep thinking I should be able to snap out of it. I can't, and that makes me feel worse.
If this feels like you
Depression is not a failure of effort or willpower, and snapping out of it is not how it works. It is real, it is common, and it responds to support. If any of this is familiar, it may help to know what counselling can offer.
How counselling can help
Counselling offers a space where you do not have to put on a face or explain yourself away.
Together we can gently look at what is keeping you low: the thoughts that pull you down, the things that have gone unspoken, the weight you have been carrying on your own. There is no pressure to be positive, or to perform being better.
Little by little, at a pace that feels manageable, many people find the grey starts to lift, and the things that matter begin to reach them again. You do not have to do this by force, and you do not have to do it alone.
I'm Alison, a BACP registered counsellor. I offer counselling in person in Pontefract and Wakefield, and online across the UK. We can start with a free, no pressure 20 minute call so you can decide if I'm the right counsellor for you. Sessions are 50 minutes, at a pace that suits you.
If this feels familiar and you'd like support, please get in touch. A short, no pressure call or a simple message is enough to start.
