How I can help
Counselling for low self confidence in Pontefract
In the words of someone who holds themselves back
I hesitate before I speak, then say nothing, and kick myself later. I talk myself out of things before I have even tried. Opportunities come and go, and a quiet "what if I get it wrong" keeps me in the same place.
It is not that I lack ability. It is that I do not quite trust my own. I second guess my decisions, wait for someone else to go first, and assume other people must know better than me. In meetings, in groups, in anything new, I shrink a little, hoping not to be noticed.
I watch other people step forward, and wonder what they have that I do not.
If this feels like you
Confidence is not something a lucky few are simply handed. It is built, and it can be built at any age. If this sounds like you, it may help to know what counselling can offer.
How counselling can help
Counselling gives you space to look at what gets in your way: the fear of judgement, the memory of times it went wrong, the habit of expecting the worst of yourself.
Together we can trace where the doubt comes from and loosen its grip, so that hesitation stops making your decisions for you. You can begin to trust your own judgement, take small steps that feel possible, and find that you cope better than the voice in your head predicted.
The aim is not to turn you into someone loud or fearless. It is to help you feel steady enough to act, and to back yourself.
I'm Alison, a BACP registered counsellor. I offer counselling in person in Pontefract and Wakefield, and online across the UK. We can start with a free, no pressure 20 minute call so you can decide if I'm the right counsellor for you. Sessions are 50 minutes, at a pace that suits you.
If this feels familiar and you'd like support, please get in touch. A short, no pressure call or a simple message is enough to start.
